Licorice extract (Glycyrrhiza glabra) has a particularly comprehensive skin-toning effect: it acts on pigment while helping to soothe the skin that produces it. It contains glabridin, which reduces the formation of pigment and facial spots by inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase, a key enzyme in melanin production. In addition, liquiritin promotes the dispersion of melanin that has already accumulated, helping to progressively improve the appearance of facial spots.
