Greater Rigor in Skincare

The People and the Lab Behind DHYVANA

DHYVANA was founded by engineers Aurora Luengo and Daniel Gracia, who develop and manufacture DHYVANA 100% in Spain.

But there are many more people involved in each product.

We work with laboratories, raw materials R&D teams, suppliers, testing specialists, packaging experts, and certification auditors. Almost all of them have been working with us for years. Others join us when a new technology emerges or when we need to solve a problem we hadn’t been able to tackle until then.

We like to work this way: knowing exactly what we want to achieve, finding the people who are best at each part of the process, and always staying closely involved in the entire process.

Why are two engineers in the skincare business?

Because, actually, it makes a lot of sense.

Science studies how things work. Engineering takes that knowledge and asks what needs to be done to turn it into something that works in the real world: a product that can be manufactured, replicated, measured, improved, and used every day.

That bridge between knowledge and reality is probably what Aurora and Daniel contribute most clearly to DHYVANA.

We aren’t dermatologists, and we don’t claim to be. We work with specialists when we need that expertise. But we do know how to tackle complex problems, separate what’s important from what’s incidental, and build systems that work.

And skincare, when you look at it closely, is exactly that: a rather complex system that someone has to figure out how to make simple.

Co-founder · Product, Formulation, and Strategy

Aurora Luengo

Aurora holds a degree in industrial engineering from ICAI and a master’s degree in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT).

Before joining DHYVANA, she worked in product development at Heineken and later as a consultant at McKinsey, serving major chemical companies such as BASF and Pfizer.

At DHYVANA, she leads the product vision and formulation process: from researching what we want to achieve and which technologies we can use to do so, to working with raw material R&D labs to evaluate the best compounds for the formulation, testing prototypes, determining concentrations, and giving the final approval for each formula.

She is the one who decides whether a formula is good enough to become part of DHYVANA.

Aurora has always been quite curious about what’s going on out there. She has studied and worked in Spain, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States; she speaks English, German, and French, and is now learning Chinese. She enjoys discovering what’s new, what’s best, and what’s most special—whether it’s a new cosmetic technology or a place on the other side of the world.

And if you’re visiting DHYVANA from outside Spain, feel free to write to her. There’s a good chance you’ll speak the same language.

Co-founder · Operations and Partners

Daniel Gracia Moreno

Daniel holds a degree in engineering from the Higher Polytechnic Center of Zaragoza. Before joining DHYVANA, he worked at international companies such as Hilti and Luis Simões, always closely involved in operations, distribution, and process optimization.

While Aurora decides what we want to achieve with a formula and when it’s good enough to be a DHYVANA product, Daniel makes sure we can manufacture it to the quality standards we seek and that we surround ourselves with the right people to do so.

Behind every DHYVANA product lies much more than just a formula. There are raw material developers, extensive R&D, manufacturing coordination, testing, certification, packaging, printing, regulatory compliance, and a network of specialized suppliers and partners with whom we’ve been working for years.

Daniel selects, coordinates, and works closely with these strategic partners who make DHYVANA a unique cosmetics brand, ensuring that all these processes come together to create a singular product.

Two different profiles, one way of working

Although they’re both engineers, Aurora and Daniel couldn’t be more different, which is why they have such distinct responsibilities within DHYVANA.

Part of the job involves researching, formulating, and deciding where we want to take a product. The other part is making sure that product can actually exist: finding the right partners, complying with regulations, manufacturing correctly, certifying, testing, and maintaining processes that can be repeated to the same high standards.

In between, there are laboratories, suppliers, specialists, and many people who are part of each development. Trusting our partners, working together, and bringing together different areas of expertise to tackle a single problem is, perhaps, one of the most “engineering-like” aspects of DHYVANA.

Every formula starts with a need

Our product line began as a routine for all skin types.

Since then, DHYVANA has evolved by listening to our customers and their needs, while also closely following all the advancements in natural cosmetics. Better textures. New active ingredients. Results we couldn’t have imagined 2 or 5 years ago.

At DHYVANA, we don’t think, “We need to launch another serum.” We think, “How can we make sunscreen something people actually want to wear?” Or we discover an active ingredient that impresses us with its effects on sagging skin and dark spots, and we start thinking about where it would make the most sense to use it: in which formula, at what concentration, and at what point in a skincare routine.

Our formulas are constantly evolving. And here, being a small company works in our favor: we can research, test, and make changes much more quickly.

production site dhyvana

Laboratory and R&D: Sukhadhara S.L.U.

DHYVANA products are manufactured in Valencia, Madrid, and Zaragoza. All production takes place in Spain under the supervision of our laboratory, Sukhadhara S.L.U., which is responsible for the development and marketing of all our products.

To develop our formulas, we also work with a network of approximately 30 raw material suppliers, developers, and formulators in Spain. We are in constant contact with them to learn about new active ingredients, new technologies, and—often—new ways to improve upon what we were already doing.

DHYVANA formulas are constantly evolving. Today’s natural cosmetics allow us to work with textures, advanced ingredients, and delivery systems that weren’t available just a few years ago. When something comes along that truly improves one of our formulas, we study it, reformulate it, and test it again.

That is why certain parts of the process also require specialized partners. For example, our ampoules are packaged and sealed by a local partner, and for the cardboard packaging, we work with suppliers in various locations throughout Spain.

There are guarantees that we'd prefer not to rely on our word alone

We can tell you how we formulate our products, how we manufacture them, or what criteria we follow. But there are some things for which our word alone shouldn’t be enough.

That’s why we work with certifications, standards, and independent organizations that verify our work. These are the main organizations that audit our processes:

Ecocert Greenlife Certification

“Natural” sounds good. Certification gives us assurance.
All of our formulas are COSMOS Natural/Organic certified under the Ecocert Greenlife guarantee. This applies to our formulas and every raw ingredient—from origin and processing to manufacturing, packaging, and labeling—and is backed by documentation, audits, and verification by an independent body.

Good Manufacturing Practices | ISO 22716

A product cannot fall short on this key point, which is why we manufacture in Spain in accordance with the ISO 22716 standard and Good Manufacturing Practices: facilities, hygiene, production, quality control, and traceability are all defined to ensure safe, consistent, and reproducible results.

Responsible Packaging | FSC® and BRCGS

Beyond the formulas: we work with FSC- and BRCGS-certified packaging suppliers. FSC guarantees the responsible and traceable origin of forest-based materials; furthermore, BRCGS requires rigorous standards for safety, hygiene, quality, and control during the manufacturing of packaging. This enhances the sustainability of our processes and the quality of every product.

And there are commitments that do depend 100% on us

It’s not enough to just formulate products well. It’s also important to help you understand what your skin needs, clearly explain what’s in each product, and listen to how it works once it becomes part of your routine.

Have questions? Write to us!

Staying close to our customers is part of DHYVANA’s DNA. As we grow, there’s one thing we never want to lose: staying close to the people who use our products.

You can email us, call us, or come visit us at our space in Madrid. And if you’re not sure what your skin needs, we have a special form where you can tell us what you’re currently using, what concerns you, and what you’d like to achieve. We’ll review your skincare routine and help you decide what to keep, what to change, and—often—what you can eliminate.

Some of our customers have known us for years, back when we sold directly at BioCultura and didn’t yet have our own space. To this day, they still call us or come see us. And we’d like it to stay that way.

That personal connection also helps us make DHYVANA even better. If you don’t understand something or have questions, that’s our problem too.

transparency dhyvana

Transparency and Safety

We publish the full INCI list for all our products and explain the purpose of their main ingredients. And we’re also very clear about what we prefer to leave out. The COSMOS certification already establishes a very strict set of criteria regarding what we can use and how: we do not formulate with parabens, phenoxyethanol, synthetic fragrances and dyes, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and it also sets requirements regarding the origin and processing of raw materials. We go a step further. We pay special attention to allergens regulated in the European Union and minimize the use of ingredients that do not directly benefit the skin but may be necessary to ensure that a formula is stable, safe, and functions as intended. Our approach isn’t to create an endless “NO” list to tell you that everything else is bad. It’s much simpler than that: if an ingredient doesn’t need to be there, we’d rather it not be. If you want to research a formula, you shouldn’t have to look for that information outside of DHYVANA. And if you want to know exactly what we use, you can see it with complete transparency. feedback comentarios dhyvana

We’re listening to your feedback

DHYVANA is for you. We want to know what happens after a DHYVANA product arrives at your homes, becomes part of your routines, and touches your skin.

You can share your experience on Google or Trustpilot, where our rating is 4.7 out of 5 stars. And we especially love reading your reviews when you leave your feedback directly on the product page for the item you’ve used. That way, others can learn about real experiences with that formula and better decide if it’s a good fit for their skin.

And we’re always learning from them.

Your feedback has led us to improve products, develop others that complement them, expand the information on our product pages, change instructions, and make our packaging clearer. Sometimes, a question that comes up repeatedly is enough to show us that something that seemed obvious to us wasn’t so obvious after all.

That’s why the reviews, emails, phone calls, and conversations we have with you don’t end once our work is done. They’re also part of how we continue to build DHYVANA.

Sustainability and Improvement

Improving what already exists is part of our creative process at DHYVANA. This also applies when we talk about sustainability.

We review our packaging to reduce materials and find better alternatives. You’ve seen this, for example, in our ampoules: less packaging, less cardboard, and a pop-up box.

This work is also part of our commitment to Ecocert and the COSMOS standard, which includes criteria regarding packaging and reducing its environmental impact. Our cases are made from FSC®-certified cardboard, and we continue to seek out recycled, recyclable, and reusable materials —as long as they do not compromise the safety or stability of the formula.

And sustainability is also built into the formula itself: following COSMOS criteria, we select ingredients and processes with not only the skin in mind, but also what happens when they enter the environment—biodegradability, processing, and environmental impact are all factors in the decisions we make during product development.

And knowing that since there is no such thing as a perfect option, continuous improvement is our ally.
